RE

RE is integral in our curriculum. Each lesson, we immerse pupils in exploring spirituality through the ‘Religious Education Directory’ programme. As part of our engaging learning journey, we capture creativity and imagination with a range of activities, such as discussions, drama, art projects and poetry. The core aim of every lesson is to encourage a deep understanding of faith within our children.

The ‘Religious Education Directory’ guides teachers and pupils through each of the six strands of learning - each one lasting for one half term. Each strand has a core theme which is explored though scripture and the liturgical practices of the Catholic Church. There is a strong focus on spiritual and moral growth, by linking, comparing and interpreting the message of significant biblical narratives.

We recognise the rich diversity within our school community and embrace the opportunity to explore the links between Catholicism and other world faiths. In the branch ‘Dialogue and Encounter’, pupils explore and appreciate world religions such as Judaism and Islam. Through this, we cultivate mutual understanding and respect, enabling pupils participate in respectful discussion with those who hold different religious views to their own.

Weekly assemblies and collective worship are central in our school. As a school we celebrate mass at significant points in the year, such as Welcome Mass and Harvest Mass. These masses, acts of worship and celebrations of the word provide moments of reflection to further develop our individual faith.
